Terms of Use

Terms of Use

Effective July 29, 2026

These terms govern your use of the ThumbSpy Chrome extension.

Permitted use

You may use ThumbSpy to inspect public YouTube thumbnails, research public YouTube channels, compare public video performance, and download publicly available thumbnails for lawful purposes.

Creator rights

ThumbSpy does not grant ownership of thumbnails or other YouTube content. Copyright, trademark, publicity, and other rights remain with their respective owners. You are responsible for having permission or another lawful basis for any copying, publication, commercial use, or modification.

YouTube and Google

Your use must comply with the YouTube Terms of Service, applicable YouTube API Services Terms, and Google's terms for any API key you provide.

API keys

ThumbSpy does not include a developer-owned YouTube API key. Research mode requires a key from a Google Cloud project you control. You are responsible for securing that project, applying appropriate restrictions and quotas, and paying any charges associated with it. Do not provide a key you are not authorized to use.

Prohibited use

You may not use ThumbSpy to violate law, infringe another person's rights, evade YouTube or Google controls, overload services, misrepresent content ownership, or distribute malicious material.

Availability

API quotas, third-party services, and public metadata can change or become unavailable. ThumbSpy is provided without a promise that every video has a maximum-resolution thumbnail or that every request will succeed.
